About Lori L. Breeden-Gomez
Lori L. Breeden-Gomez obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from California State University San Bernardino in 1997 and her Master of Science Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University in 1999. Lori is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC39712), working in the field since 1998. Lori has held various positions in the mental health field, ranging from residential treatment facilities for children to outpatient mental health settings. While Lori was working in the residential environment, she was responsible for a caseload of 20 children and provided individual, family, and group therapy. Lori was also responsible for their case management needs and facilitating their return home to their families or foster care. While working in a residential setting, Lori had the opportunity to develop a group curriculum for sexually abused children.
After leaving residential treatment, Lori worked in outpatient settings that allowed her to see adults, couples, families, and children. Lori has vast experience working with other professionals such as psychiatrists, county social workers, public health nurses, and teachers.
For the last 18 years, Lori has held supervisory positions at an outpatient non-profit clinic contracted through the Los Angeles County Department of Mental health. Lori has been operating her Private Practice since 2005 in Brea, CA.
Currently, Lori provides clinical supervision to master's-level therapists who are gaining hours towards their state licensure. Lori is responsible for their ongoing treatment planning for their clients, clinical documentation, legal and ethical issues, and chart compliance. Lori has also completed training in an evidence-based practice called Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Lori also was an adjunct faculty member at Loma Linda University in their Counseling and Family Sciences Department. Lori has taught their practicum classes and assisted with their group process class. Lori was a clinical supervisor at Loma Linda University Behavioral Health Institute, in which she facilitated individual and group supervision for graduate and doctorate level students.
Since 2011 Lori has been an Adjunct Faculty and Cinical Supervisor at Chapman University at the Frances Smith Center for Individual and Family Therapy.
Lori is also an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and has held this distinction since 2014.
Lori has been featured in Parenting OC Magazine and OC Family Magazine, writing about parenting and family issues.
Lori is a Clinical Member of The California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
